NKY Navigators Student Ministry Update: June 2024
"Because we loved you so much, we were delighted to share with you not only the gospel of God but our lives as well." - 1Thess.2:8
Friends,
We’d like to update you on the exciting work the Lord has been doing in the lives of students in Northern Kentucky through our ministry.
Our new Navigator staff
Our emphasis on discipleship has been so great and healthy for everyone. Our new staff (there are four of them) have been so encouraged by our emphasis on the Scriptures and discipleship. All five of us +2 of the spouses attended a new staff orientation in Colorado at the headquarters in April and it was not only inspiring and encouraging for the new staff, but also one of the most biblical and foundational retreats I’ve been on. It was really awesome. Navigators has a fundraising program that all four new staff have enrolled in and it is been a great and valuable training for them. All four hope to have a super successful summer and their fundraising efforts. A big reason we moved to the Navigators was to create this opportunity for local staff here, what a great blessing! So be praying for them when you get a chance.

Ministry update
Hundreds of NKY students were able to process the gospel at various summer camps this summer. A majority of the schools ran successful navigator clubs this spring and the gospel was preached in basements all over the area to hundreds of northern Kentucky teenagers. And as expected we took hundreds of those NKY folks to our own summer camp that we ran, Nav Camp at Ocoee. And as hoped, the cost was significantly less than years past. This was one of the other big reasons we made the shift to the Navigators - and June 28-July 2 it was a reality. Check out our Youtube page for video highlights! This summer 195 NKY students made a new profession of faith! But as much as it’s great that numbers continue to rise, that is ultimately not the goal. The importance of making disciples, lifelong followers, who will take the gospel to other places is rising to the top of the priority list with our ministry. The importance of healthy follow up with students and equipping students with God‘s word has got to happen or the number of students “meeting Jesus” will be for nothing. Myself and other leaders have been brainstorming and creating both practical and engaging ways for following up students through the year and after camp. Please be praying for this, our hope is that every generation of students coming out of our high school ministry has dozens of sincere and passionate lifelong believers.
Resources
A huge thank you to Steve Hall, Pete Smith, Shad Carnes, Charlie McGregor, and Sarah Beasey who created one of our more successful golf outings in recent years. It was super encouraging to see so many folks come out and support our continued efforts to tell students the good news of God‘s love for them and help them grow in their faith. $30000 was raised! These resources are desperately needed right now as we try to manage the huge endeavor of running our own summer camp in addition to the growing day to day expenses.
We plan to have a Fall Celebration again this fall - we hope everyone can make it out to support the ministry! It will be Monday evening, October 21 at Crossroads church in Florence.
We are thankful for the last 27 years of ministry and all that God has done through all the leaders, and can’t wait to see what he has in store for the next 27. If you have any questions regarding this update, please reach out. We would love to hear from you! Lastly, if you feel led to, please pray for us and the leaders! There are 125 volunteer leaders sacrificing countless hours to reach and help thousands of NKY students everyday!
For God’s love,
Rick, Amy, all the leaders, and the NKY board of directors
What is High School Navigators Ministry?
NKY Navigator High School Student Ministry is a Christian ministry that reaches out to high school and at times middle school students. We have been active as a ministry in NKY for over 27 years. Volunteer leaders are recruited and trained to mentor and disciple others in the Christian faith. Our hope is to reach young people who need faith, help them walk in faith and then help them learn to help others.
The Navigators are in all 50 states of the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. Learn more about the Navigators at navigators.org
Who are The Navigators?
The Navigators® is an international, interdenominational Christian ministry established in 1933. Navigators are people who love Jesus Christ and desire to help others know and grow in Him as they “navigate” through life.
Our slogan, “To Know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same®,” aptly describes what Navigators do. As we befriend those who don’t know Jesus or those just starting out in their relationship with Him, we show them how to grow and help others grow, too.
We help people “navigate” life by establishing Life-to-Life® mentoring—or discipling—relationships with them, equipping them to make an impact on those around them for God’s glory. These life-changing relationships are formed on college campuses, on military installations, in neighborhoods, churches, and even high-rise apartment buildings.
Our mission is based on the Bible, God’s Word. Desiring to fulfill 2 Timothy 2:2, Navigators seek to forward the grace and teachings of Christ from one believer to the next—what we call “generational multiplication.”
Today, the Navigator staff family—4,600 strong—includes 70 nationalities, 130 languages, and numerous heritages and life experiences. The Navigator family also includes those who work alongside and support our staff, whose hearts beat with the passion of our motto, “To know Christ, make Him known, and help others do the same.”
